How to Pack Efficiently for Your Next Business Trip

Packing for a business trip may seem tricky, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you’re a seasoned business traveller or you’re embarking on your first trip for work, making sure your bags are packed efficiently will make your life on the road easier. Here are some things to consider.

Choose the right luggage

Whether or not you choose to check your bags, the right luggage is imperative. While you may default to a rectangular suitcase, there are other options available to you.

A duffel bag is simple to carry, as long as it’s not too heavy, and is easy to squeeze into irregular spaces. However, because it doesn’t hold its shape, your clothes are more likely to wrinkle.

People who need to dress formally on their business trip may prefer to use a garment bag that allows them to hang their suits or dresses easily at a hotel. These roll up easily to fit into overhead compartments during air travel.

Build a Capsule Wardrobe

Don’t fill your bags with a different outfit for every day. Instead, choose pieces that can be mixed and matched to create different looks. This will be different for men and women, but most people don’t need more than two pairs of pants, a few tops, two pairs of shoes and some accessories for a week away. Neutrals pair best together, but don’t hesitate to throw in some colourful accents.

Don’t forget that it’s almost always possible to do some laundry while travelling, so you’ll never run out of clean clothes.

Don’t Unpack Everything When You Leave Home

If you travel often for your job, you may want to leave certain things in your suitcase at all times to make packing easier. Decant your shampoo and other toiletries into to smaller bottles and keep them in a toiletry case along with a travel toothbrush and other essentials. You should also keep spare charging cords for your electronics to make sure you never run out of power.
